The first, known as the Primary History of Armenia, has strong links with Books I and II, thought to be lost, of P'austos's History of the Armenians (also entitled Bouzandaran). The Foreword to the Primary History refers twice to five kings of Armenia, whom it has not been possible to identify satisfactorily. It has been suggested that hing ('five') is a copyist's mistake for hin ('ancient'). This double error is improbable and the author demonstrates that only one such amendment is possible. It is concluded that the Foreword to the Primary History belongs to the Bouzandaran, Books III-VI of which record the history of five kings of Armenia ER -
